And so it begins . . .
Found my way here (after almost 24 hours of travel), and then promptly passed out. My first real day in Romania began with some down home Romanian cooking (at KFC) and a tri to the LC office here in Iasi. After getting my internet fix for the morning, I left with my LC "buddy" to wander the streets of Iasi. Lots of history and lots of cultural tidbits worth looking at, although I only took an outside glimpse of most. Got a bus pass, though it seems that was a bit of a waste, because I am only 15 min walk from my temperary room to the office and 15 min from office to the school I shall be teaching at. So far it is not all that different, beggars ask for money, people crowd the streets and in the end it seems a city is a city no matter where you are. Tonight we will go out for billiards and beer, and after the prpe-travel stress from yesterday, I welcome it. For the rest of this week I will be traveling to the different LC's in Romania, so maybe if I am lucky I will find some stories to tell. . .
